Outlook Mobile Manager 2.2 Frequently Asked Questions
I have an IMAP email account and use it with Outlook. Can I use OMM?
OMM requires Outlook with either a POP3 or an Exchange email account. The
application currently does not support IMAP email accounts. It will also not
support Hotmail via httpmail, but will support Hotmail via POP3.
Everything is setup but I am not getting emails to my device. What is
wrong?
The priority threshold is easy to overlook. If emails are assigned a lower
urgency value than the threshold you have set, the messages will not be sent to
your mobile device. Verify that the slider on each Profile page (work, home etc)
is set low enough.
My priority is set to “All Mail” but I still am not getting messages.
The time delay set in “Only after my computer has been idle for” field on the
Profile pages might be set very high.
I still am not getting messages and OMM is all setup correctly.
Ensure that the email address is correct on the SMS Settings page. Also, OMM
needs to have Outlook open and running on the same machine. If Outlook is not
running, OMM will send the emails to the Outbox, but it needs Outlook to “send /
receive” those emails.
I use the Outlook rules to move emails to subfolders. Will those emails be
picked up and forwarded by OMM?
OMM only considers sending emails if they are in the inbox. If the rule copies
the email to a folder, and thus leaves the message in the inbox, it can send the
message. Rules that move the email out of the inbox before OMM gets a chance to
forward it, will not be sent. You can use Inbox rules to send emails directly to
your mobile device (regardless of the assigned priority) by creating rules that
copy or move messages to the Mobile Inbox folder (created by OMM automatically).
I have a rule that moves an email to the Mobile Inbox. I see it
automatically got sent to the Outbox, but it is still there in the Mobile Inbox.
Did it get sent?
Yes. OMM uses the Mobile Inbox as an Inbox for emails going out. It will not
delete them after sending them.
I have an email that was moved to my Outbox by OMM but it is just sitting
there and never gets sent. Why?
If you “touch” the email when it is the Outbox, Outlook will not send it
through. Once it is in the Outbox, do not open it or change it.
